NSI Technologies announces StimPlan Shale for Optimizing Hydraulic Fracturing in Shale Gas and Shale Oil Resources.

NSI Technologies, LLC (NSI) announced today StimPlan Shale, which adds significant new capabilities to NSI’s StimPlan Software for the analysis and modeling of hydraulic fracture propagation and performance in shale gas and shale oil resources.

StimPlan Shale adds the ability to incorporate natural fractures into the reservoir model and evaluate their impact on fracture propagation and well productivity. The inclusion of microseismic visualization also provides the ability to monitor fracture development and better calibrate fracture geometries.

These new capabilities, alongside StimPlan’s existing rigorous 3D geometry modeling and modeling of multi-stage fractures in horizontal wells, make StimPlan Shale a powerful tool for optimizing production in shale gas and shale oil wells. Both StimPlan and StimPlan Shale will also be available as 64 bit, multi-threaded versions, for faster run times, in order to take advantage of modern computer hardware.

StimPlan Shale is currently available as a pre-release preview for existing clients, the commercial release is scheduled for the first quarter of 2012.
